Best Soccer Rebounder [2023 Review]

In soccer, the more you practice, the more you’ll increase your skills. In a team sport like soccer the best way to go about this is by practicing with the team, but that’s not always an option. For a player in the off-season or who just wants to work on skills above and beyond mandatory practices, what do you do if you don’t have anyone else available to work with?

Finding an empty goal that you can kick against is an option, but then you still have to walk back and forth over and over to get the ball back. Kicking against a wall or fence can scuff up your ball pretty badly, and even leave tens or hundreds of marks on the wall that will be really hard to get out.

Top Soccer Rebounder Reviews

There’s a better way, and it’s called the soccer rebounder. Also known as a soccer rebound net, wall, or rebounder goal, they all do basically the same thing – bounce the ball back to you after you’ve passed or shot the ball at it.

An additional benefit of a soccer rebounder is that it helps you learn how to deal with ground passes that aren’t absolutely perfect. Better versions will have adjustable nets that can change the angle at which the soccer ball returns – whether flat or ground passes, with consistent bounce, or higher in the air.

Tekk Rebounder Goal

Tekk Athletic specializes in portable soccer goals and rebounders, so it’s no surprise that they come out at the top of the list as the best soccer rebounder overall. Their primary selling point is that they use 2” square aircraft grade aluminum tubing, which offers exceptional strength at a low weight.

Tekk Trainer Rebounder Goal (Soccer, Basketball,...

The patented one-piece design of the Tekk Rebounder Goal keeps the setup time extremely low so you can be practicing shooting and passing soccer drills in as little as 2 minutes.

For different practice plans, this multi-sport rebounder is adjustable to seven different angle settings, providing all-around training for soccer players of every position. It is one of the larger soccer rebounders on the market, so keep that in mind when planning on where it’s going to be used.

The Tekk Trainer provides “game speed” return balls. The larger size and bungee attachments create more consistent returns that aren’t too fast or too slow.

As a multi-sport rebounder, it comes with optional padding in case you want to use it on a gym or other solid surface instead of grass.

  • Basketball – practice game situation passing, catching, shooting and dribbling
  • Angle adjusts to seven positions for all around training

Additionally, Tekk sells extra accessories such as rubber pads to make the soccer rebounder even more functional. These items are not included, but it’s available from the manufacturer:

  • Carrying bag
  • Conversion net to turn it into a goal
  • Target rebounder net with corner targets for accuracy training

This portable trainer is one of the more expensive soccer rebounders available, but its excellent build quality, a great reputation, and a one-year warranty.

QuickPlay Rebounder Adjustable Angle Trainer

The QuickPlay Rebounder – Adjustable Angle Multi-Sport Trainer is an effective tool for training players, with two separate surfaces providing different return angles. It is available in three sizes, 3’x3’, 5’x5’, and 7’x7’. To protect any indoor surfaces you might use this soccer rebounder with, it comes with rubber feet.

QuickPlay PRO Rebounder Adjustable Angle...

This is a very strong, but heavy, soccer rebounder that, with its steel frame and heavy duty net, is known for its durability. Because of the steel frame it should last for years, and is backed by an unrivaled two-year warranty. However, also because of the steel frame, it is very heavy and not the best choice if you’re looking for a portable training rebounder.

An innovative dual angle panel adds an interesting twist to the ground game training possibilities of this multi-sport rebounder. The angle of the soccer rebounder is fully adjustable, allowing for the coach or player to adjust how the soccer ball is going to be returned – whether on the ground or in the air.

The largest version of the QuickPlay PRO, 7’x7’, is larger than any other angled soccer rebounder on Amazon with 49 square feet of surface area. This allows for beginners to more easily hit the target, and also provides the opportunity for multiple players to practice with it at the same time.

This soccer rebounder net was designed in the UK. This large soccer rebound net is used by professional soccer clubs, schools, and colleges around the world.

What makes this QuickPlay soccer rebounder stand out? It has a high tension ultra-heavy duty steel frame, rapid tension net system, 2-year warranty, and a large surface area on the largest model.

SKLZ Quickster Portable Net

It’s always worth looking at less expensive options. The SKLZ Quickster Soccer Trainer has an innovative setup that keeps it lightweight.

SKLZ Quickster Soccer Trainer Portable Soccer...

The most obvious thing that separates this portable soccer rebounder net from the first few ones in this review is that it has two completely separate sides. This allows for two different types of soccer training without having to build in additional adjustment features that could break in an item that is this lightweight. The extended depth that the two net design provides also gives it a more solid base.

As far as the soccer nets themselves, one side has a larger soccer net (6’x4’) that tilts up to create a more volley-type rebound (and has a different colored target area, which is a nice touch).

The other, smaller side (6’x20”) is slightly angled down to return balls consistently on the ground. Additionally, with two sides that are completely separate from each other, a coach could have two players practicing different soccer skills at the same time.

This is definitely designed as a soccer-specific net. You could conceivably use the larger side for baseball training rather than soccer training, but it is too lightweight to handle something like a basketball.

SKLZ Quickster Soccer Trainer Portable Soccer...
  • Provides a true-roll that helps master passing and receiving on ground
  • Maximize reps by trapping the ball out of the air with your feet, thighs and chest
  • Work on volleys and half volleys with instep and laces

For a portable traveling rebounder in a casual environment, this soccer rebounder is excellent. It is extremely lightweight and breaks down into a fairly small carrying case (included).

The main issue with a rebounder of this size will be the overall stability. It comes with four ground stakes, but for indoor or concrete use (and sometimes even on grass) you will want to use sandbags instead.

As a recap, here are some of the highlights of this SKLZ rebounder: It’s lightweight and portable, included carrying case, and has different soccer training options available with two separate nets.

Goalrilla Striker Soccer Trainer with Double-Sided Net and Goal

When planning on keeping a soccer rebounder around for a long period of time, look for one that is strong and won’t break down with the elements.

Goalrilla Striker Soccer Rebound Trainer with...

The Goalrilla Striker Soccer Rebound Trainer is made of powder coated steel which should hold up well to repeated use and will resist rust and sun damage. The welded corners also add an additional amount of strength and protection for realistic rebound training.

The net is made of nylon and is attached with a bungee cord. One of the repeated complaints seen is that the instructions are poor and attaching the net can be difficult.

  • Follow the instructions when weaving the bungee through every other square – until the middle, then attach it to two squares in a row. This will even out the corners of the net.
  • If left outside during the wet season, apply anti-rust spray over any scratches that have compromised the powder coating.

This soccer training tool has two sides – one, the standard tilted rebounder, will help train for volleys or goalkeeping while returning the ball in an upward trajectory. The other side is used as a goal, with shallow sides.

Instead of a normal goal where a player training by himself would have to continually retrieve the ball, this portable soccer trainer will return the ball back to the player.

Do not include the Goalrilla Striker Soccer Rebound Trainer in a list of options as a portable rebounder. Weighing in at 71 lbs, you will want to set this up in a place where it won’t be moved.

The benefit of all this weight is that, even though it has included ground anchors, they probably won’t be needed. This item is not recommended for indoor use unless you apply your own base padding.

This Ultra-Responsive Rebounding Net and Goal is the perfect training tool for both individual and team practice.

Trigon Sports Soccer Rebounder Training Net

When considering a large rebounder, whether for a beginner or for an advanced player who wants to work on their shooting, sometimes a more basic soccer rebounder can provide what you need.

Trigon Sports Soccer Rebounder Training Net, 6 x...

Sporting a 6’x12’ net, the Trigon Sports Soccer Rebounder Training Net is the largest net in my review. There aren’t a lot of options for soccer training with this net – it is double sided, but does not provide adjustment options or any sort of angles. If what is needed is just a simple wall to rebound from, this is the way to go.

The construction of this rebounder is very good. It is made of galvanized steel, the net is UV treated and mounted with bungee cords, and assembly is made easy with spring-loaded push buttons. There is also an orange target in the middle of the net to use when practicing consistent shots. Stability is provided by 3’ legs on both sides of the net.

While the 3’ legs do add a certain amount of stability, it also comes with ground stakes to make sure this rebounder doesn’t tip over when faced with strong shots or a heavy wind. Not recommended for indoor use, but you could add padding to the base and weigh it down with sandbags if necessary.

Trigon Sports Soccer Rebounder Training Net, 6 x...
  • Frame Size: 6’ x 12’
  • 1-1/2" Heavy duty powder coated galvanized steel tube frame.
  • 2.5mm Heavy duty U.V treated twisted knotted netting.

Overall Trigon has made a good soccer rebounder for players looking for a large surface to bounce the ball off so players master ball control skills. Consistent bounce is great for advanced soccer training when trying to hit the top corners.

This is great for beginners looking for a simple rebounder with a large surface or players who need a size closer to a standard soccer goal.

Different Types of Soccer Rebounders

Different players’ levels and different types of training require different tools. A rebounder meant for a beginner will probably be very different from one intended for an advanced player, but there can be some overlap. In addition, some rebounders are made so they can be used for other sports.

Side view of a soccer rebounder

Basic Rebounders

The most basic form of a soccer rebounder is a flexible net, usually mounted with bungee cords, that merely returns the ball to you when you kick or throw into it. Many times these are straight up and down. On a small scale these can be used for passing soccer drills for one person, improving their accuracy when passing, weak foot, and their first touch when receiving a ground pass.

When moving to larger versions of these rebounders such as the Podiumax portable soccer trainer, they can also be used for shooting practice. When striking hard shots at a rebounder, most of the time you don’t want the ball returning by flying straight up into the air, so a flat rebounder (or even tilted down) net should be your target.

Angled Rebounders

Some rebounders come with tilted angles. When they are angled up, they are meant to return the ball with some lift to them. When the ball comes back to the player in the air, they will be able to practice using other parts of their body to control it. Head, chest, knee, weaker foot, even shoulders should all be taught as different ways to ball control.

The most basic form of the angled rebounder can be used from both sides, such as the Podiumax portable soccer trainer. The side that is tilted down will always return the ball along the ground, creating a new training option for coaches and players.

Adjustable or Dual-Net Rebounders

More advanced models of the best soccer rebounders can be adjusted to the angle of the player’s preference. Some even have a hinge in the middle of the net to provide two different angles at the same time.

These rebounders are great for solo training tools since they can be used in different ways, but the more poorly constructed ones will not have very good mounting hardware. Be sure to inspect any hinges or connectors before purchasing.

There are other multi-skill training tool versions that have multiple nets, one on each side, both at a different angle. You will often find these on more lightweight rebounders, where stability is key.

Multi-Purpose Rebounders

When trying to control a ball that comes to you out of the air, a player will have to make a decision on what to do with it. To slow downplay, they should trap the ball and keep it close to them. If they’ve already spotted space to move to, the ball should be directed toward that space. If they’re in front of the soccer goal, a volley (kicking the ball hard when it’s still in the air) can be an excellent shot.

An angled rebounder will help a player train for these ball control situations and other aspects of the game like ball distances. Whether the ball is kicked or thrown at a net angled upward, the ball will return in the air. Depending on the way the net is designed, this can either be a consistent or random arc; there are curved nets that will surprise you with unpredictable ball returns.

Goalkeepers can benefit from ball control training with a rebounder as well. This works very well when someone else (coach or other teammates) will throw or kick the ball into the net to redirect the ball to the keeper. Since the goalie doesn’t have the signs they normally look for from a shooter-like body angle, they will have to react to the ball itself.

Keepers can, of course, use a rebounder by themselves to simulate the ball being shot at them without having another player around to do it for them.

What to Look For in the Best Soccer Rebounders

When choosing the best soccer rebounders, try to take into account what it will be used for, the ability level of the player using it, and the area you will be using it in. There are a few different specs that you’ll see listed for each of the best soccer rebounders in this article, and it’s important to determine which ones will work best for you or your team.

These practice tools seem like a basic concept but the different parts of them have to work together.

  • The perfect training aid has to be elastic or mounted with springs. The net should be bouncy enough to return the ball to you, but not so bouncy that it sends the ball too far.
  • The frame has to be strong enough to deal with tough shots so it doesn’t fall apart or warp.
  • Check to make sure the frame has a sturdy base so it doesn’t tip over on even the most simple pass. Anchors are recommended for smaller rebounders.
  • If the rebounder is going to be used for trips to the local field, training pitch or park, try to choose one that assembles and breaks down easily.

  2. Medium soccer rebounders are great for beginning players working on passing and receiving skills.
  3. Small soccer rebounders should only be used by intermediate to advanced soccer players, or someone who has very little yard space. If you miss the rebounder you’ll still have to chase the ball. soccer rebounders
  4. Large soccer rebounders work well for shooting practice.
  5. Medium rebounders are great for beginning players working on passing.

Weight and size of the package may come into play when traveling and trying to fit it in your trunk.

Some soccer rebounders are made for specific sports, and others for multiple sports. These multi-sport versions can be handy if you also have other ball sports that you play.

Size

Each manufacturer decides the best sizes for their products, but the average size is around 5’x5’. A rebounder at this size is good for all-around practice, but a larger or smaller one may be better for a player’s particular needs.

A smaller soccer rebounder will be better for more advanced players who are working on improving their accuracy. The smaller size will give them a harder target to hit, and the shorter rebound distance can improve close-area reaction time.

Once you get into the larger sizes, the players training options increase. For beginning players, a larger surface will be more forgiving with fewer chances to miss the target.

Advanced players will have a larger number of options for shooting at corners, big soccer rebounders have loose areas of recovery when passing or shooting from angles, and they can provide a more sturdy backbone that holds up well to practice shots.

Framing

The frames of soccer rebounders can have different materials, shapes, and construction, some of which may be more suited for specific situations.

For a very young player such as a toddler, consider a small plastic rebounder that will be strong enough for their kicks, but light enough that it can be moved around anywhere you like.

When looking for a portable soccer rebounder, focus on lighter weight, easy set up and break down, and make sure it has a carrying case that will fit in your car. Since the lighter weight by itself won’t hold up to stronger shots, but sure that it comes with quality anchors, or use sandbags to weigh it down.

For everything else, you will want a strong, thick frame that will last. The best soccer rebounders are normally built from steel or aluminum and will have some sort of coating that will help them stand up to the elements. If you are not planning on moving it around, a heavier rebounder is an excellent choice; you won’t have to worry as much about it tipping over.

Netting

The largest surface area, and the weakest link, of any soccer rebounder is going to be the netting. As such, make sure that it is of the best construction possible.

In descriptions of netting, you may see notes about the netting such as “UV treated” or “heavy duty.” These are excellent indicators of a longer lasting netting. In addition, any netting 3mm or over will be thicker and more durable.

Most netting is held to the frame by bungee cords; either via individual bungees strategically spaced out, or one long cord that is woven through the netting. Individual cords are easier to install and replace, but generally only show up on the best soccer rebounders on the market.

Conclusion

When training by yourself, it can be difficult to recreate game-time situations. Dribbling juggling, and shooting into a soccer goal can be practiced effectively by yourself, but having the ball return to you from ground passes and shots will help you advance much more quickly. To get in the repetition needed when away from other players, the soccer rebounder is one of the best tools a player can buy.
